Raw Cashew Shake

For a QUICK, living (raw), enzyme, vitamin, mineral rich breakfast: blend about ¼ cup organic cashews, strawberries, banana, maca powder (optional) and 3 cups water. Fresh nut milk doesn’t always have to be made separate from the smoothie. Organic cashews make really deliciously smooth milk without a prominent nut pulp. You don’t have to strain cashew milk. In this case, just mix it up with the other ingredients and there’s your smoothie. (Store bought almond and hemp milk have added sugar and are by no means fresh, plus they require packaging which creates pollution.) This recipe can be made with any seed or nut you wish.

I freeze bananas if they become too ripe. I like to use these frozen bananas for my morning smoothie. I don’t usually recommend frozen fruit because it’s lost about 30% of its enzymes. If you don’t have frozen fruit, add a few cubes of ice.

If it’s more helpful to you to have actual measurements for the recipes, let me know. I have chosen not to put this in terms of 1-cup strawberries, 1 banana, because I think everyone can feel how much they want. Making amazing food to nourish your body temple is natural to you. If you’re making this just for yourself, look at what you're putting in the blender, and don’t put more strawberries than you want to eat right then. If you are making this smoothie for 3 small children, put in the blender the amount of fruit, water and nuts you want to get in their bellies. There are no rules for smoothies. I even put raw chocolate with kale in the blender…but I might be extreme…Just throw it together and enjoy.

This drink has powerful cell building nutrients. Vitamins and minerals are the elements of the earth, and they are the elements that construct our bodies as well. Maca is wonderful for the endocrine system. It assists in our perfect hormone production and function. It tastes earthy. If you’re new to maca, don’t over due it at first. Add it into your diet with a teaspoon, then a tablespoon. I got so excited about maca when I first learned about it, I over did it and got a bellyache, so be mindful of that. It’s powerful stuff.
